I have devoted much of my time to sharing my own life story with women in hopes that my transparency will motivate women to do the same. Recognizing that all women are created in the image of God, my desire is to drive home the message that who you are does not define you, but rather what you do with who you are! I love sharing my life and business experiences to empower women in their everyday life. When we realize that taking the focus off ourselves enables us to love all, we truly can make a difference.
It is for that reason that I believe it is so important for you to find a person who you trust and feel comfortable sharing with. At times my clients get overwhelmed with all the emotions involved when moving. Several years ago, I invited a client to a “red couch moment”, simply taking a few minutes to share, vent and refuel. Just like that, Red Couch Moments came to life.
Meet my client, Jennifer; after selling the large house she and her family lived in for over a decade, Jennifer had the “pleasure” of sharing a “cozy” townhouse rental with her husband, two children, two dogs and a hamster, while waiting for her new home to come on the market. What seemed like a wonderful opportunity for some quality family time quickly turned into a competition of who will “survive.”
Here are Jennifer’s own words:
“Sharing a small townhouse with my family was really tough. We went from 3600 square feet and having our own spaces, to 1100 square feet, my kids (and dogs…lol) sharing a room and all of us missing that “stuff” that makes a house feel like home and cozy. One might say we were restless and eager to move again. I on the other hand turned into a referee and maid. Cue the “red couch”…I spent a lot of time debating if we had made the right choice, am I wanting to pick a house just to have a house, and tears wondering if we would ever be able to spread out again, or should I say get along again…lol. The red couch was a space to vent, cry, laugh (but mostly cry), and feel like I could say what was on my mind. Sharing those hopes and dreams of our new home helped me. It isn’t always rainbow and sunshine when you buy a house, but when your realtor has a red couch…you can’t go wrong! Thank you, “Red Couch” and Scurlock Agency, for providing a quiet place to unwind and refuel, and most of all mentally escaping the “cozy” living arrangement.”
I am pleased to report Jennifer and her family are happily settled in their new house.
